PLANNING AND REVITALIZATION OF MUNICIPAL SQUARES FROM JAN GEHL'S VIEWPOINT:
THE CASE OF PEJUÇARA/RS

This study sought to provide a relational convergence between the twelve quality criteria, which determine a good public space, according to the work of author Jan Gehl, “City for People”, regarding the Municipality of Pejuçara/RS. The research used the following methodology: bibliographic study, interviews and informal conversations with the community, and finally there was a description of the data. The results show that among the twelve criteria, the Municipality is developing well, but it needs improvements in its three municipal squares: Visconde de Rio Branco, Caetano Ferigolo and Savino Costa Beber. At the end of the study there are notes of suggestions for improvements for the well-being and quality of life of the population.
