THE PROFILE OF CONSUMERISM RESEARCH: A BIBLIOMETRIC STUDY OF ARTICLES FROM THE SCOPUS DATABASE

This work aimed to identify certain characteristics of the articles in Scopus' database that contained the word consumerism or consumerism in their title. Using bibliometrics as a statistical and quantitative technique for measuring the production indexes and dispersion of scientific knowledge, the topics of interest, such as title, abstract and body of text, were exported from the database mentioned and processed by the VOSviewer(R) bibliometric analysis software. It is verified, the great value of the subjects treated due to the vast existing literature, and by the significant increase of publications. At the end, suggestions for future studies are disseminated.
