ASSOCIATES 'KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CORPORATE GOVERNANCE IN COOPERATIVES: A STUDY IN A CREDIT COOPERATIVE

Abstract

This study aimed to identify associates' knowledge of good corporate governance practices   in   credit   unions,   especially   the Sicredi Alto Uruguay Cooperative. The application of good Corporate Governance practices in credit  unions   aims   to   improve strategic governance, seeking more useful results for the good   development   of   business   management.   The   main   topics covered in the theoretical section deal with the conception of corporate governance, the implementation in credit   unions,   the influence on credit unions, as attributions  and   as   uses.   Methodologically,   a   bibliographic   research   was   carried   out   to conceptualize the theme and after an analysis of the understanding of the  cooperative   associate’s   framework   in   corporate governance. The results pointed out that they were identified as a large portion of respondents, have the knowledge to respect the corporate procedures of the institution. This is one of the factors that contribute to the members,   the   knowledge   of   the institution and the participation in the   assemblies   becomes   associate   and   collaborator   of   the   agents   involved   in   the construction of the organization's planning and growth.
