A SYSTEMATIZATION OF THE CONCEPT AND EVOLUTION OF DYNAMIC CAPABILITIES:
MODELS AND APPROACHES EXPLORED IN LITERATURE

The objective of this theoretical study is to carry out a systematization of the concept and evolution of Dynamic Capabilities (DCs), considering the main models and approaches explored in the literature, in order to build a reference to support studies in this field of investigation with regard to better clarity and explanation of this concept. In methodological terms, a literature review was carried out with the selection of a set of basic references, such as seminal works, and complementary academic research of relevance for the construction of this study, through the application of the Snowball technique. As a result of this theoretical study, the antecedents that supported the development of the theory of dynamic capabilities were described, with emphasis on the Resource-Based View, advancing to the discussion around the initial work on DCs, by the exponents Teece, Pisano and Shuen, in 1997, and the deepening of its operationalization, with emphasis on the work of Teece, in 2007, where the DCs are integrated into three central categories (sensing, seizing and reconfiguration), each of them with its microfoundations and, finally, a brief discussion on the field of application of dynamic capabilities studies. Thus, this theoretical framework, although still under construction, contributes to an understanding of the origin, evolution and application of the dynamic capabilities approach.
