Abstract

The objective of this work was to develop techniques for disposal and treatment of poultry  waste  in  rural  establishments  that work with a small productive scale, since it is a great challenge that intensive production regions will have to face in the  coming years, due to the problems of pollution of water, costs of storage,   treatment   and   use   of   manure   as   organic   fertilizer   in agriculture. This survey was based on the bibliographical analysis of articles, booklets, dissertations, theses, books, and  specific laws and decrees on the subject. It is possible to conclude that, for poultry farming, the overlapped bed has been presented  as the best alternative for storage, provided that it is properly treated. In terms of treatment techniques, the  most  important  are composting and the use of biogas. There are other more advanced treatment techniques, but as the focus of the study was  on small plants, we sought to analyze the costbenefit of the techniques raised.
