NEOEXTRATIVISM IN THE BACIA DE CAMPOS (RJ): ANALYSIS OF TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT BASED ON OIL EXPLORATION IN THE FLUMINESE COAST

Abstract

The present work aims to analyze the adversities between the regional development of the Bacia de Campos-RJ, based on the exploration and production of oil and the socio-environmental context of the social groups of that region. To investigate this context, the development model conceptualized as neoextractivism is used as an analytical key to understand the incentives for regional development in the first decade of the 2000s. Neoextractivism will be used as an analytical category to collaborate in understanding the development model implemented in the Bacia de Campos and analyze the ecological crisis caused by this model in communities impacted by the industrial advance of oil. Based on the bibliographic research on the socio-environmental transformations that occurred in the studied region, conceptual indicators were designed that contributed to the understanding of the neo-extractive model in the Rio de Janeiro region of the Campos Basin.
